Director for Kids On Line Academy |
DirectorMartell has always loved people and helping people achieve their goals. Ever since he was a young man, he has been involved in school and community clubs and organizations with the goal of helping them grow and blossom.
After to serving an LDS mission to Japan, Martell started his education at Brigham Young University and went on to finish it at Brigham Young University Hawaii. He thrived on the Aloha spirit of the islands and lived there for many years. At one time, he was also a supervisor of teenage boys in the pineapple fields and helped homeschool those in that program. He saw firsthand what dedication and perseverance could achieve in a short amount of time when students were given the opportunity to progress at their own pace. With a degree in computers, he began teaching classes for BYU-H and community and school groups. His love of people was given room to grow as he helped them learn new skills. He enjoys teaching people and enabling them to reach new heights with their knowledge. He has taught many things from computers and technology to Japanese language and culture. Martell returned to the mainland to date and eventually marry Cara. He worked for the College of Eastern Utah as their faculty assistant manager for many years before moving on to work more in the community with the Applied Technology College as their Custom Fit Training Specialist. Martell continued working with people when his career took him to China and other Asian countries as a technology assistant. He now stays home more so he can enjoy family life as he continues to help people buy and sell homes for a living. Even though education was not stressed much during his childhood, Martell soon realized the doors that education opened for people and he wanted to be part of the process to help teach them and give them the skills that they needed to be successful. That drive is what pushes him to make great educational courses and tools available to Kids On Line Academy students. |
Cara Dansiecara@kidsonlineacademy.org
Teacher for Kids On Line Academy |
teacherCara is the second oldest of thirteen children. She learned the importance of education at an early age from her parents who were both educators. She has always loved children and teaching and started her teaching career in her garage doing summer school for her siblings. She completed the five year program for her bachelor's degree plus secondary education certification in her three years at Utah State University.
After graduating, she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints speaking Spanish in the San Diego, California Mission and Russian in the Samara and Rostov, Russia Missions. Upon returning home, she began her traditional career teaching German, Russian, and Spanish at Carbon High School. During this time, she met and married Martell Dansie. When she was pregnant with their first child, she "retired" from teaching full-time in brick 'n' mortar classrooms. She went on to teach English as a Second Language for the College of Eastern Utah as an adjunct teacher. By the time she was pregnant with their second child, she was working full-time as a wife and mother. Due to complications with that pregnancy and birth of their daughter, Cara and Martell started adding to their family through adoption. For the next few years, they were blessed with eight more children for a total of ten: five girls, five boys, five biological, five adopted. When their oldest child was in traditional kindergarten, they decided to bring him back home and continue his education there. That was just the beginning of her non-traditional teaching career. Since then, she has been involved as a parent and as a teacher in many homeschool co-ops, groups, clubs, and activities. Cara's professional career started up again when she went to work for Utah Virtual Academy as their high school German teacher. She also worked for Utah Online School K12 (formerly Washington Online) as a K-8 teacher for 6 years. While there, she taught many online classes for parents and students including reading, science, writing and more. She is currently the German teacher for Williamsburg Academy and works on a contract basis for others needing her services. She has also taught in-person and online workshops for both professional educators and homeschoolers. |
