Frequently asked questions
Below are the most frequently asked questions about our school. If you have additional questions, the answers may be found on our ABOUT page. If you still have questions unanswered, you are welcome to CONTACT us and ask them directly.
Accountability |
This is up to the parent or adult who is the at-home-tutor. How much the student uses each course or follows up on their progress is entirely up to the at-home-tutor. You will have access to their progress reports whenever possible and can use or not use them as you wish. We have a certified teacher in KOLA but she will not be following up on your students. If you have questions or concerns, you are welcome to contact us and we will help you as best as we can to support you but no contact is required.
|
attendance |
Again, this is up to you in your own individual school/home to determine how you want to keep track of attendance. We will not be tracking that for you.
|
Courses |
Students enroll for the number of credits that they wish to take and then select the courses available to equal the number of credits. Some courses are only available to students who enroll as either full-time or part-time students. Other courses may be selected as a single course or as part of a combo course.
|
Dual-enrolling |
Anyone is eligible to enroll in KOLA. Students can enroll on a part-time, half-time, or full-time basis. If they are enrolled in another school of any sort, they are still eligible to enroll in KOLA. There is no additional paperwork that needs to be done. Because it is a private school and does not receive funding from outside entities, it is not held to anyone else's requirements.
|
end date |
The school year ends on June 1st. Students will continue to have access to their courses until that date. Students who are continuing with KOLA in the fall will have uninterrupted access during the summer months for those courses that they have re-enrolled in.
|
Information |
In order to set up your accounts, we ask for some basic personal information. This information is not shared with anyone else. We use the information as needed only to set up the accounts that you have requested. You agree during enrollment that the information may be shared with those providing services for the school.
|
school |
Kids On Line Academy is a private virtual school and not a curriculum re-seller. Students are not purchasing online content from KOLA, but rather accessing the content as an enrolled student in KOLA.
|
siblings |
All courses must be enrolled in by a single student. Some of the courses track their progress and some do not. Some courses are linear where lessons are presented in order according to what the student has already done. Because of this, many courses do not work to be shared among siblings. Student are welcome to share what they can from their courses with their siblings who are not enrolled.
|
Start date |
The school year begins on September 1st. Students who have enrolled and paid their tuition and fees and selected their courses before that date will have access on or before the first day of school. Those who enroll after September 1st will start as soon as their tuition and fees are paid and their courses set up.
|
support |
We will help you with the account setups for all the programs. We will be here as educators and also as fellow parents to give support and encouragement. We will be sending out a monthly newsletter with updates and motivational tips to help you in your educational journey with your children.
|
testing |
There is none. It is a private virtual academy and as such will not be following the state core or testing requirements.
|
Tuition |
After an enrollment form has been received, you will be sent an invoice through PayPal. Once we have received your online payment, your accounts will be set up within the week. (You do not have to have a PayPal account in order to pay using these invoices.) Payments are non-refundable.
